'Smoke and Lenses' Series

Art

Neon Moon

Argon Pulse

Using plexiglass pieces in an array of colors as a parallel for viewports or lenses, this series reflects on how each of our individual viewpoints, privileges, family histories, etc impacts the metaphorical color with which we see the world.

The vivid color palette was in response to the California wildfires during summer 2020.

When seeing the work, I hope viewers ponder how each piece of plexiglass is a limited lens and doesn’t encompass the whole painting, and also how it impacts the view or color of what’s beneath it - and in parallel reflect on what has impacted their own perspectives.
