Old App Design
As a user experience design consultant for Sephora, I am supporting a team in the process of redesigning the backend algorithm and front-end app design of a skin scanning experience that matches foundation colors to given customers. Conceived out of customer research, this project addresses aspects of big box beauty retail that some consumers felt was exclusionary while shopping for foundation to match their skin tone. In response, as Sephora increases the range of shades available, the company is also dedicating resources to improve the accuracy of their scanning devices and add education for store associates on how to provide inclusive expertise on foundation colors. I am particularly proud of this project because the scale and influence of a big box brand could have a large impact on how retailers address issues of inclusion across the industry.
